In general
- What is GET IT DONE?
- GET IT DONE is an online platform for small-scale development projects. We select projects and will post them online, allowing project MOVERS and SHAKERS to promote their projects, get connected and find support in terms of funding and volunteers. GET IT DONE maximally integrates with existing online social networks such as Facebook (worldwide) and Hyves (Dutch). This facilitates effective friend-to-friend promotion of projects, easy communication and efficient redistribution of resources.
- Why do we only facilitate small scale projects?
- Less is more! Small-scale projects are more efficient, transparent, and less susceptible to fraud. Also, the donor has a relatively higher impact on the outcome.
- What are the benefits of using GET IT DONE?
- Tapping into the huge potential of existing online social networks such as Hyves and Facebook, GET IT DONE gives selected projects a widget, a mobile mini-website.
You can place the widget on your personal profile page and share it with your to friends.

Makers
- What is a Maker?
- Makers are the people who are responsible for the execution of the project, the people who ‘get it done’ in the first place.
- Who can be a Maker?
- Any legal or natural person that meets the criteria and is willing and able to follow the procedures.
- What are the responsibilities of a Maker?

- How do i become a Maker?
- By getting your own project application approved and posted on the platform.
- Are there different kinds of Makers?
- Yes, each Maker has a contact person and a formal applicant. If you work for an organisation that plans to post a project on GET IT DONE, you might be the contact person, whereas your organisation is the applicant. The contact person is the one who communicates with the GET IT DONE organisation and the project’s supporters. The applicant is the legally responsible party. They sign the formal contract with GET IT DONE, and they’re in charge of the whole project.
Movers
- What is a Mover?
- Movers are the primary promoters of a project. Movers work together with the Makers to get their projects done. This is a very important role.
- Who can be a Mover?
- Anyone above the age of 18 can be a Mover, with the exception of (people who work for) the Maker. A Mover is the most effective if he or she is part of a group of people who are most likely to support your project online.
- What are the responsibilities of a Mover?
- Movers do not have legal responsibility for their project. Nevertheless, they are expected to support their project in whatever way they can, as long as the Maker agrees to what the Mover of their project does. One of the most obvious responsibilities of a Mover is to use the project widget to mobilize his or her online social network as soon as the project is online. Movers can also co-edit applications, provide project updates and they are addressed in all formal communications about their projec

Donating and do-nating
- What is a do-nation?
- Projects often need stuff money can’t buy. Time and talent are resources that your project might need. The most current non-financial resource, however, is a person’s network. Networks
are an immensely valuable resource. GET IT DONE allows your project to maximally profit from this.
- How can I do-nate?
- If requested for by the Maker, you can do-nate your time or talent to the project. You are already do-nating to your project by distributing the widget to your friends.
- How can I donate?
- By clicking on the donate button in your widget. Or donate to your project on the project site.
- Is there a minimum or maximum donation?
- There is a minimum donation of 5 euros. There isn’t a maximum donation, although you cannot donate more to your project than the amount left in the project budget.
- Can I donate money only?
- You are already donating to your project because you are distributing the widget to your friends. Also, you as the project owner can request other kinds of support, for instance skills or knowledge.
- Can I contribute anonymously?
- Yes, it is possible to donate anonymously. This means that your name and profile will not be shown in the widget ‘Friends’.
Your bank payment particulars will be known to GET IT DONE but are subject to our very strict privacy policy which you can read here.
- How much of my donation goes to my project?
- The full 100% of your donation goes to the project budget. The Project budget is accessible via the project page on the website.
- What happens to my donation?
- Your donations are transferred to the bank account of the foundation and added to the amount raised for your project. Your project widget will immediately show the new amount. When the total amount needed for your project is raised, the project starts and your money is transferred to the bank account of your project owner.
- What happens to the interest on my donation?
- Any money generated from interest on the donations while on the GET IT DONE bank account is added to our GET IT DONE emergency fund.
This fund is used to better support our projects if needed or to cover any losses to our supporters because of failure or the cancellation of projects.
- Do I pay a fee when I donate on the GET IT DONE platform?
- No, but you do pay transaction cost to the payment services provider you chose.
- Are my donations tax-deductible?
- Yes, the Cheruto Foundation is an official registered foundation under Dutch law. It all depends on whether your government considers such donations to be tax-deductible. The confirmation e-mail you receive after your donation is also your tax receipt.
Getting projects DONE
- Who can put a project on the GET IT DONE platform?
- Any legal or private person can, as a project owner, put a project on the platform. The project has to meet all the GET IT DONE criteria
- What projects can I support?
- You can support any project on the platform.
- What criteria should a project meet?
- See the list of criteria.
- What is the maximum fundraising period for a project?
- The maximum fundraising period is 6 months. Within this period the project budget has to be realised. If this is not the case (and the fundraising period is not extended by GET IT DONE), the donated money will be allocated by GET IT DONE to other projects on the platform.
- Why is a project divided in phases?
- We believe that most of the projects can be divided up into meaningful phases. The project owner does this as part of the application process. For every phase the project owner gets a part of the funds. When the phase is completed and deliverables received the next phase starts and the next part of the funds will be transferred. This gives GET IT DONE and the project Shakers some control over the execution of the project.
- What happens if, after reaching the project budget, the implementation of the project cannot be verified?
- The project will be cancelled, a symbol for ‘cancelled’ will appear on the project widget and donating is made impossible.
The money already donated will be allocated by GET IT DONE to other projects on the platform.
- What happens if a project receives only a small proportion of the funding it requests?
- As the fundraising period for the project has passed without reaching its fundraising goal, the project will be cancelled and the donated money will be allocated by GET IT DONE to other projects on the platform.
- How do I keep track of the progress of the projects?
- The project widget gives you updates of the progress of your project.
- What happens when a project raises more funds than needed?
- Donations to a project will immediately be added to the total amount raised for the project on the platform. If all the funds have been raised, further donations are blocked. It is therefore impossible for a project to raise more than the project budget goal.
- How do we monitor the quality of the projects on our platform?
- The project owners are by contract required to deliver proof of progress and communicate with their supporters. Additionally GET IT DONE employs voluntary fieldworkers who evaluate and can visit the project locations. GET IT DONE itself rigorously evaluates and analyses the projects in the application phase and during the project execution.
- What happens in case of an emergency?
- In case of an emergency such as a natural disaster in the area where the project is situated, the project enters a special emergency phase. This means that all the project widgets from this project go into emergency mode. The widget will get an emergency symbol that supports a special project fund for emergency help. All donations via the widget will immediately go to the project owners in the disaster area.
- What happens if a project costs more than was expected?
- If a project requires more money than was expected in the budget for legitimate reasons, the project owner can ask his project network for additional funds. A complete and reasonable explanation of the reasons that led to the shortfall in the budget must be added to the request. Also, GET IT DONE will thoroughly review any request for additional funds before the request is communicated to the project network.
- What happens if a project costs less than was expected?
- The surplus money will be divided among other projects by GET IT DONE.
- Can I put my widget on every online social network?
- No, not yet. For now you can use your widget on Hyves and Facebook.
- Where can I place the GET IT DONE widget?
- Only on an online social network like Hyves or Facebook.
- What language should I use on GET IT DONE?
- GET IT DONE is an international platform with English as our language of choice. You are of course free to communicate in whatever language you like with your friends on the platform. However, all project-related and GET IT DONE-related information is communicated in English.
- What happens to a project network after a project is finished?
- Anyone with a widget can use it to adopt another project.
Anyone with a widget can use it to adopt another project. The project page on the online social network will continue to exist and function as a means for people in the network to help each other and to stay in contact with friends. This is the sustainable part of the GET IT DONE platform. The network can always be revived by GET IT DONE in case of an emergency in the region of the finished project (for instance a flood). The network can be used to quickly organize aid for our friends in the region.
